THE ECONOMIC SHOCK FROM THE INTRODUCTION OF THE SANCTIONS REGIME IN THE REGIONAL CONTEXT

Abstract

In 2022, Russia's socio-economic system faced large-scale sanctions pressure, which caused «the turn to the East» - a rapid reorientation of the Russian economy. The establishment of the sanctions regime constitutes an economic shock. Refined signs of economic shock are defined: it causes perturbing effects of negative or positive nature, has a short-term impact, has a short-term impact. The combination of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic with sanctions pressure can be considered as a combined shock. This concept is applicable at the national, subnational and sectoral level. Using the principal component analysis, using the Rstudio data analysis environment, we calculated correlation coefficients between the considered indicators of socio-economic situation of Russian regions in connection with the pandemic shock. The conclusions about the possibility of clustering of the obtained data are drawn, and the prospects for further research on the topic of shock resilience are determined.
