Malyshev (1939-2022) is an outstanding reformer of the coal industry, mining engineer, Presoident of the Academy of Mining Sciences, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The paper is dedicated to the most important achievements of Yu.N. Malyshev, especially in the scope of re-structuring of the Russian coal industry.
