An Analysis of Social Integration Research Trends for North Korean Defectors

Abstract

In the case of social integration between the two Koreas, as mentioned earlier, it should be defined whether to be social integration in the sense of institutionalizing conflict or social integration in the sense of social ties. This is because the two Koreas should not only integrate at the physical level, but also integrate internally between the members of the two Koreas. Therefore, this study selected and explored papers on the subject of North Korean defectors and social integration. This study would like to collect papers for social integration for four and a half years from 2019 to June 2023 and analyze the contents according to research methods and topics to suggest directions for social integration of North Korean defectors in the future. It will be able to serve as a useful milestone for researchers who want to study this topic in the future by exploring how existing studies understand the problem of social integration for North Korean defectors and approaching problem solving.
