Abstract. The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature has used its plenary power to designate Cnodalon viride Latreille, 1804 as the type species of Cnodalon Latreille, 1797, and rule that Cnodulon, as used by Fabricius (1801a, 1801b), is an incorrect subsequent spelling of Cnodalon Latreille, 1797.
