Abstract

Apple improvement and the development of new varieties are of significant importance for increasing productivity and fruit quality. At SCDP Voinești, the apple improvement program began in 1950, when the first hybrid combinations were made, and has continued to this day. Over time, varieties or genotypes with a high level of genetic resources have been used as parents, especially for obtaining apple varieties with genetic resistance to diseases. From the numerous hybridisations performed, valuable elites were identified.
