Abstract

The canons of current national literatures are influenced by new perspectives introduced by the changes taking place in a new transnational world order. The experience of migration in Catalonia implies significant changes in identity, a topic that leads to reflection on the literary identity of a land, the nationality of authors, and gender issues. The aim of this article is to provide a brief outline of the themes in Najat El Hachmi’s works (Nador, Morocco, 1979), underlining the identity problem that affects second-generation migrants to Spain alongside the ongoing struggle for gender equality.
