Abstract

Stereotactic body proton radiotherapy (SBPT) has the potential to be an effective tool for treating liver malignancies. While proton therapy enables near-zero exit dose and could improve normal tissue sparing, including liver and other surrounding structures, there are challenges in implementing the SBPT technique for proton therapy, including respiratory motion, range uncertainties, dose regimen, treatment planning, and image guidance.
