Abstract
Penile cancer is a rare entity. HPV types have been identified and correlated with high risk for causing anal, perianal and penile cancer, both intraepithelial neoplasms and invasive cancer. A case of penile cancer is presented, which will enable the natural history of the disease and the different stages of the pathological process to be identified, from initial infection to progression to an invasive lesion. The literature on the subject is reviewed, and emphasis is made on the lack of an effective program that integrates all different actions for early detection, and disease-specific protection by immunisation.
