As MITRE’s national security sector integration lead and chief of staff to the general manager and senior vice president, she supports strategy development, mission execution, special projects, and internal and external engagement. She has held various leadership roles since she joined MITRE in 2012, most recently as senior technical advisor and deputy director for the Strategic Partnerships and Technology Transfer Office. She Earned a Doctorate in Engineering (D.Eng.) in systems engineering from the George Washington University, a master’s degree in business administration from Western New England University, and an undergraduate degree in physics from College of the Holy Cross. She is active in community, charitable, and professional organizations, including the Society of Women Engineers, the Board of Advisors for the Mid-Atlantic Quantum Startup Foundry at the University of Maryland, and the Bishop O’Connell Board of Governors in Arlington, Virginia. kviani@mitre.orgMichael A. BalazsMichael A. Balazs is an autonomy futurist and director of Early Career Programs for MITRE’s National Security Sector. He helps advance autonomous technology, adoption, and trust within the services and combatant commands. He also identifies and executes opportunities uniquely suited to MITRE’s role and strengths as a federally funded research and development center. He has a master’s degree in computer science from The Grainger College of Engineering, which is part of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a PhD and MA in physics from the University of Virginia, and a BS in physics and computer science from Johns Hopkins University. mbalazs@mitre.org
