Pre-editing influence on the machine translation of the historical literature: “A General History of Science and Technology in China” as an example

Abstract

This study takes the machine translation of the historical literature “A General History of Science and Technology in China' as an example. By analyzing the errors and their causes in the machine-translated text without pre-editing, relevant methods for pre-editing were derived. Using the BLEU metric, a comparison was made between the machine-translated text before and after pre-editing, and the statistical results showed a significant improvement in the quality of the machine translation after pre-editing.
