A review of the Guyana landmark local content law

Abstract

Abstract On 31 December 2021, the historical Local Content Bill reached the final steps of the legislative process after the Guyanese President, Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali, finally assented the Bill into law. Officially, incorporating it into the country’s legal architecture as the Local Content Act No 18 of 2021. This article reviews the said Local Content Act to determine if the said legislation meets the best industry practices or not and why.
