Abstract

This article offers a creative reading of the classic composition Imagine (1971) by Yoko Ono and John Lennon from the perspective of theoretical propositions associated with speculative realism, and in particular, with the concept of hyperobjects by Timothy Morton. As a result of the artistic-theoretical collaboration, the text includes a discussion of Rafał Zapała’s word and music works, which were created as part of a joint practical-theoretical workshop. They illustrate the titular practice of tuning, the idea of which is to change the visual perspective of interaction with the world – understood as the dominant way of experiencing reality – to a sonic one, allowing for a different participation in the surrounding environment. The project encourages the readers to re-spond creatively to the content of the article with instructions and tasks to perform on their own. Key-words: speculative realism, hyperobjects, object-oriented ontology (OOO), listening, sound imagery
