SOCIAL PROTECTION OF SPANISH CHILDREN IN THE LATE 1930s SOVIET UNION: REGIONAL ASPECT

Abstract

The paper reconstructs the regional experience of social protection of Spanish children in 1939-1940. The author highlights the issues regarding supplies, utilities and personnel that faced an orphanage in the city of Kuibyshev, as well as reconstructs historical specifics of efforts in education and health care. Information provided in the paper includes student profiles (names, age, gender) sources from documents that were previously unknown to academia. The author draws a conclusion that the control and administrative participation of local party and Soviet authorities, the conscientious attitude of the orphanage staff made it possible to ensure the social security of Spanish children in the region.
