Abstract
Technology management is a prominent process, especially in manufacturing companies, because manufacturing technologies play a relevant role in the accomplishment of the corporate strategy. This paper deals with the technology selection process, aiming at proposing a decision procedure to support managers selecting appropriate manufacturing technologies, influenced by the digital transformation phenomenon. It is grounded on a Design Science Research strategy, focused on solving a real problem concerning technology management and selection. Its main theoretical implication is extending theory concerning the construction of multi-criteria decision models and the technology selection body of knowledge. The main managerial implication is the proposition of a practical artifact that can be used by manufacturing companies to support the decision-making process.
