5G Network: Architecture, Protocols, Challenges and Opportunities

Abstract

The 5th Generation system is being established to give unmatched connectivity that will connect anything anywhere. 5G networks are designed to deliver high-speed, reduced latency for increased mobile broadband, large machine-to-machine communication and real-time applications. High data rates, high coverage, high reliability, cost-effectiveness are all advantages of 5G. This article discusses architecture, protocols, enabling technologies like mmWave, massive multi-input-multi-output, heterogeneous network, application areas of 5G and challenges in the 5G network.
