Design Of Sonar Receiver And Oceanography

Abstract

Starting from the functions of a sonar system (detection, classification and localization), this paper illustrates the links between the design of a sonar receiver and oceanography. Using specific examples, it details what the sonar designer needs from oceanography and it shows how the environment knowledge can be used and should be used in order to improve overall sonar performances.
