R~cent microprocessor and microcomputer cost decreases have led to a greater system complexity in small system hardware, which has led in turn to a rise in the complexity of the software for such systems. The change is being felt not only in system software (such as compilers and assemblers) but also in user-generated applications software (such as, inevitably, games).
