Typification of names of the Cruciferae Juss. taxa described by E. R. Trautvetter from Middle Asia and Kazakhstan

Abstract

Results of revision of original material on the Cruciferae Juss. taxa described by E. R. Trautvetter based on collections of A. G. Schrenk from Central and East Kazakhstan (1840–1843) and of A. Becker from Turkmenistan (1883) are presented. The data on the type specimens of all 25 taxa deposited in AA, B, BP, BRNM, KW, LE, M, MW, P, PRC, TK, W, and WU are reported, and a category of each type specimen is specified. Among 23 typified taxa (3 species, 16 varieties, and 4 forms), for two varieties (Erysimum versicolor Andrz. var. integerrimum Trautv. and Lepidium cordatum Willd. ex Steven var. elliptico-orbiculatum Trautv.), holotypes are recognized; otherwise, lectotypes are designated including two (for Isatis trachycarpa Trautv. and Sisymbrium pilosissimum Trautv.) second-step typifications; all holo- and lectotypes are kept in LE. Currently accepted names (if distinct from original ones) are provided. The names Lepidium cordatum var. elliptico-orbiculatum and L. cordatum var. orbiculatum Trautv. are recognized as new synonyms of L. amplexicaule Willd.
