Abstract
An experimental implementation of the base station transceiver for a wideband CDMA system is presented in this paper. The whole design can be divided into three main parts: transmitter, receiver and frequency synthesizer. Commercial RF ICs are adopted in the circuit design thus making the system small enough to fit onto a single PCB. The RF direct modulation technique eliminated the intermediate frequency stage from the transmitter to make the system more compact and better performance is achieved. For the receiver, when the arrived RF signal level is as low as -95.1 dBm, the bit error ratio (BER) of the binary output can retain a proper value 10/sup -3/ for voice communication. The receiver's dynamic range is over 70 dB under its AGC loop. These test results are good enough to meet the standard performance requirements.
