Abstract
In recent years, Bahrain has started to organise numerous exhibitions and festivals that showcase various activities and events. It considers as an opportunity for young people to present their work or achievements, and this will actually raise the level of Bahrain locally and globally from the economic, commercial and social aspects. Anyway, there are many examples of these festivals which is, light festival, garden show, festival city, festival, food…etc. Most of them have an outdoor atmosphere that gives a very interesting sense, as the Bahraini population is not accustomed to this type of experience and that why the turnout for these types of places is huge. However, after the COVID 19 the World Health Organization WHO recommended to do social distances when there are social events and use the outdoor spaces as much as we can to avoid transition for this virus whenever the crowded area is there. The goal of the research is to discuss the lighting elements that will encourage the use of outdoor spaces, lighting plays a significant role in attracting visitors by giving them the sense of happiness, enjoyable, dynamic, and secure and safe as well. © 2020 Institution of Engineering and Technology.
