Abstract

The author of this article concludes that it is absolutely not correct to assess the military campaigns of Habīb b. Maslamah and Salmān b. Rabī‘ah of 654–655 to Armenia, Iberia-K‘art‘li and Albania-Ałuank‘ as the violation by the Arabs of the peace treaty signed between viceroy of the caliph Mu‘āwiyah b. Abī Sufyān and T‘ēodoros Rštuni in 652, as it is customary to write about this in scientific historiography since Soviet times.
