Abstract
Immigrant entrepreneurs face unique challenges when starting up their own businesses. Little knowledge exists on how immigrant entrepreneurs mobilize their resources to succeed in business. This study employs in-depth interviews and investigates how successful immigrant entrepreneurs in Norway mobilize resources in a situation where they experience contextual uncertainty. The findings indicate that effectual resource mobilization is appropriate for unfamiliar market concepts, regardless of the entrepreneur’s resource base. The study suggests that entrepreneurs should emphasize the resources they already possess in new market launches. The study illustrates the dynamics of resource mobilization as a relationship between context, resource base and the interaction between different mobilization strategies.
