Abstract

We introduce an enhanced and efficient dictionary based algorithm for single keystroke text input that can be used in various mobile communication devices. We also extend this approach for text transmission through short message service (SMS) servers to have a reduced overload on the underlying network The algorithm presented minimizes the search time to generate all valid words from a given set of key sequences; it also minimizes the time taken to find all words that begin with a given prefix. This technique proposed will not only be used for text entry, but can also has enhanced features that could be used in the wireless/mobile service provider's servers to reduce the overall traffic of SMS messages.
