Unemployment, non-participation and labour market slack among Irish males

Abstract

This chapter deals with the measurement of labour market conditions among Irish males over the period 1983-96. The central question addressed is how important is ti to take account of other indicators of labour market slack to supplement the information conveyed by the conventional unemployment rate.
