In some automotive applications there is a need of multichannel control of many LED entities. A multichannel PWM generator is necessary for independent control of each lighting channel. Unlike typical hardware solutions, the presented generator is based on the software of the main microcontroller. The proposed system was examined and selected laboratory results are presented. The solution is cheap and easy to implement so seems to be attractive. Some other hardware methods of the multichannel PWM generation are discussed in the paper.
