Abstract

En Congolie , travel narrative by the Belgian author Edmond Picard, is an interesting example of the colonial travel narrative. The message is not new, but the interaction of the representation strategies is. The goal of this article is to analyze the way in which the representation mechanisms (politics-esthetics-science) contradict or confirm each other.
