Abstract
DoD Directive 5000.53, Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Safety (MPTS) in the Defense Systems Acquisition Process, and the DoD Instruction (DoDI) 5000.2, Defense Acquisition Management Policy and Procedures, require MPTS or human systems integration (HSI) analysis and reporting throughout the acquisition process. To catalog and describe the use of these tools and databases, Human Systems Division, Deputy for Developmental Plans (HSD/XR), together with Aeronautical Systems Division's Manpower, Personnel and Training Directorate (ASD/ALH) undertook a two-year study of tools, databases, and the acquisition decisions they support. In addition, ASD/ALH continues to keep current with the most promising MPTS tools, databases, and Information Analysis Centers which can be used by United States Air Force personnel and their contractors to conduct MPTS/HSI analysis. The author highlights existing and emerging tools which can help MPTS analysts identify, locate, and conduct the MPTS analyses required in these DoD directives.<>
