Based on the analysis of the traditional calculation methods for the thermal effect calculation of short circuit current of OPGW, and with the integrated consideration of heat exchange, initial conditions and the skin effect, the new method called improved integration algorithm is given, and the applied software called OPGWTA was developed. Several OPGW cables in common use were calculated and analyzed by the software, the results were accord with those of experiment. Abstract
