Abstract
An optimization method for minimizing the submodule capacitance of modular multilevel converter (MMC) is proposed in this paper. With this method, demand of submodule capacitance can be reduced to 40% of conventional method, meanwhile, the loss almost remains unchanged. The simulation results verify the rightness and feasibility of the theory.
