The role of technology assessment in training system definition

Abstract

The training systems program office at Aeronautical Systems Division (now Aeronautical Systems Center) awarded a contract in March 1990 to JWK International Corporation to conduct a Training Systems Requirements Analysis (TSRA) for low altitude flight training of Air Force units in Europe. A TSRA was later placed under contract to JWK to analyze the Ground-Based Training System (GBTS) needed to support the new Air Force Primary Aircraft Training System (AFPATS). A critical part of these analyses is to conduct an assessment of the ability of ground based training technology to support/supplement aircraft training. This paper describes the process of Technology Assessment (TA) to identify training device alternatives to support a TSRA.<>
