Abstract
The photoelastic (piezo- and elasto-optic) characteristics are studied for CTGS crystal belonging to the langasite group (symmetry class 32). The acousto-optic efficiency of CTGS is estimated. It is shown that the acousto-optic figure of merit of CTGS is two to three times higher than the one of langasite as well as strontium borate which is suitable for acousto-optic modulation of light in UV spectral region.
