Abstract

The city of Plovdiv preserves the cultural richness it brought from the past. This region, which is the second largest city in Bulgaria, continues to exist as an important educational and cultural city. Many Turkish newspapers are also published here. The aim of this research is to determine the Turkish newspapers and magazines published in Plovdiv and to determine their importance in terms of Bulgarian Turkish press history. By using the descriptive scanning method, the sources related to the subject were examined and the newspapers and magazines published in the city of Plovdiv were tried to be determined. To achieve our goal, the primary sources in the archives of Kiril and Methodius National Library and the Plovdiv Ivan Vazov Public Library were used, and the publication times and publication policies of newspapers and magazines were examined. As a result of the research, 41 periodicals were determined in Plovdiv. Thirty-eight of them are newspapers and three are magazines. When we look at all this information, it is obvious that Plovdiv has an important place in the history of the Turkish press.
