Future Prospects: A Challenge to Promote Wellness

Abstract

This chapter further highlights several clinical and practical areas of physical health, discussed in previous chapters, affecting adults with intellectual disability, along with the associated health disparities. Adults with intellectual disability can be defined as a ‘medically underserved population’ especially those transitioning from childhood to adult services. Research, health promotion and wellness, development of national service frameworks remain areas of future advancement.
