Abstract

SUMMARY In the last few years a lot of new types light-guiding optical film structures have been developed. Many applications have become published in the field optical and optoelectronical integrated circuits, sensor-elements, etc. The basic component of these systems is the optical waveguide which can be realized with optical fibers or fabricated as a layer structure from different dielectrics and many kinds of glasses [I] [2]. The purpose of this article is to describe some problems and solutions of optical waveguide thick film manufacturing and also connecting techniques with optical fibers.
