Abstract

With miniaturization, we are currently reaching the boundaries of these technologies. In the next 10 to 15 years, the era of molecular components will begin. This type of device will profoundly change the nature of our computers. This trend will be pushed even further by developments in the field of silicon. Until now, progress was mainly made on centralized units of computers which remained relatively homogenous (e.g. mainframe, PC, server). The analysis of the devices that will be created in the upcoming decade has shown that progress will go hand in hand with a large diversity of capillary systems that co-operate with one another in the form of a swarm of intelligent objects.
