Abstract

It has been found that inside some of the buildings with protection from lightning systems, electronic appliances are damaged after storm caused electrical discharges. Induced electric-motor voltages in the appliances’ circuits during the atmospheric discharges are damaging the appliances. In this paper we establish the minimum distance from the wall on which the lightning conductor between the lightning rod and the grounding rods should be fitted, such that the voltages induced in electrical or electronic appliances, connected or not, are at safe levels.
