Abstract
This research is to comprehend the evolution of ultra-high speed Data Transport Networks over a fully protected Dense Wave Division Multiplexer (DWDM) Rings as applicable to high speed Access Networks and high speed Transport Networks. This research ambitions to understand the impact of transporting High Speed Data over Time Multiplexed access to Wave Multiplexed DWDMs. We intend to establish a dynamic TCP-IP/MPLS based VPN over Broadband DWDM rings. The result of such an effort would produce a highly reliable, robust network architecture with high throughput. There are two main problems to be tackled in developing such an architecture. (1) In order to make the system more reliable, data is transmitted in both directions across the ring. In case of a fault in one direction, this makes sure that the data gets through to the destination by the other side of the ring. Therefore there must be a mechanism to avoid duplication of packets during normal operation when there is no fault. (2) TCP is bursty in nature whereas DWDM is TDM based. These issues will dominate the deployment of such architecture.
