Abstract

Parity-time (PT) symmetric complex structures can exhibit peculiar properties which are otherwise unattainable in traditional Hermitian systems. This is achieved by judiciously involving balanced regions of gain and loss. Here we investigate the scattering properties of PT-symmetric diffraction gratings.
