Personal communication networks: their application to NS/EP telecommunications

Abstract

It is noted that personal communication services (PCS) may be able to serve as valuable wireless systems that integrate with existing National Communications System programs in support of the federal government. The authors consider the overall characteristics and possible implementations of PCS. It is pointed out that PCS has potential to provide significant benefits to national security and emergency preparedness users, including mobile capability, access to and egress from the public switched network, the ability to receive calls based on a user identification number, authorized access to presubscribed services, and wireless private branch exchange capability.<>
