Laboratory experiments using NI ELVIS

Abstract

This correspondence describes some experiments using the national instrument educational laboratory virtual instrumentation suite (NI ELVIS) in our undergraduate electronic laboratories. Most undergraduate laboratories are becoming poorly equipped due to rising cost of laboratory equipment. Compared to its traditional counterparts, NI ELVIS provides a low-cost solution for laboratory instrumentation since a suite of virtual instruments operating through a plug-in data acquisition (DAQ) board and a proto-board is readily available at relatively low cost. We have performed some experiments in electronics utilizing NI ELVIS. Sample of the experiments and results are presented here.
