On the choice of a wavelet, and the energy and the phase distributions of the wavelet transform

Abstract

The effect of the choice of a wavelet and the nature of the signal on the cross terms that exist in the energy distribution of the continuous wavelet transform (CWT) of a multicomponent signal with representative examples is discussed. The branch cut phenomenon observed in the phase distribution of the CWT of a multicomponent signal is described.<>
