More on the church career of Paulus Legendorf (1410 - 23 VII 1467)

Abstract

The figure of the Warmian bishop Paulus Legendorf has been of interest to Polish and German historians for many decades, who have devoted many studies to him. Most of these works, however, were of a reproductive nature, which resulted in the repetition of mistakes made by earlier researchers. Efforts to verify previous findings were rare, and there was no systematic search in published and archival sources. Thos article, based on broad library and archival research, presents new facts from the life of Paulus Legendorf, and also draws attention to erroneous information that has accumulated over the decades, which continued to be repeated during the pres�entation of the figure of Bishop Legendorf.
