Seasonality, abundance, and diversity of fishes in the Piankatank River, Virginia (1970–1971)

Abstract

Bimonthly trawl catches at seven stations in the Piankatank River, Virginia, for the period July 1970 to May 1971 included 3417 specimens representing 41 species. Numeric and species abundance in the river reflected a seasonal pattern of species specific migrations with peak numerical abundance in September and a decline in marine fishes during winter.
