Abstract

This research aimed to know the influence of the use of traditional games on improving student's working memory capacity in elementary schools. The quantitative research with experimental research methods was used in this research. The experimental research model used the Classical experiment design model (one experimental group - one comparison group). The Data was collected by questionnaire and interview instruments. The results of this study showed that there was an influence on improving the working memory capacity of students in primary classes through the traditional game of Congklak. It could be seen from the results of the average value of the experimental class post-test which gets higher values compared to the control class with a significance level of 0.147. The traditional game of Congklak could be an alternative for teachers in training and improving students' working memory capacity because the components in working memory capacities such as the central executive, phonological loop and visuospatial sketch boards could be developed through grooves and rules in the game Congklak.
