Abstract
The goal of this case study was to determine the adoption of ICT (Information Communication Technology) in healthcare at University of Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). The data were gathered using a qualitative approach. This includes conducting interviews and discussion group among 70 respondents who are mainly staff of the hospital (doctors, nurses, administrative, IT personal) and patients. The study was conducted based on the outcome of an earlier study which indicated that the adoption of ICT at UMMC was affected by many factors. Moreover, end-users of ICT are said to have encountered many challenges while using this technology. At the same time, there are many benefits which can be gained from the use of ICT such as improvement in work quality, productivity, and educational tools for both users and patients. In addition, the use of ICT can lead to more accurate diagnoses, help solve health-related problems, and reduce medical errors, apart from helping ICT users to evaluate themselves. Moreover, it helps in decision making, and improving patients' safety, particularly at UMMC
