Abstract

One of the major disadvantages with OFDM system is its high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR). We investigate the potential of some of the well known linear block codes in reducing the PAPR. We present a method of biasing the codewords to minimize the PAPR. The influence of combined weighting and block coding on the PAPR is investigated. A class of block codes capable of both error correction and PAPR reduction together with several weighting functions is considered.
