Abstract

High data rates and low distortion are prime requirements for a successful wireless communication system. Due to multipath fading, strength of the signal at the receiver becomes very weak. This increases the bit error rate (BER) and hence reduces the efficiency of the whole system. The reduced signal strength can be compensated by employing equalization techniques at the receiver. MIMO refers to a wireless technique for transmitting and receiving more than one signal over the same channel by using multipath propagation.
