Abstract
In the present paper we aim to present the plasma spraying complexities in different levels with main focus on the powder injection parameters and some advances on the optimization of operating conditions toward process control. First the Lattice Boltzmann scrutiny of plasma jet and droplet impact characteristics on the target under the dispersion effects of injection parameters are presented. Second a Taguchi experimental design is conducted to explore the influence part and the interaction (if there) for five operating parameters in the spraying process. Finally, a test case for a ternary gas mixture is conducted to assess the conclusion drawn in the studies using the LB method and the experimental design. The results of the three methods are confronted together and discussed.
