Abstract

The paper presents computational intelligence (CI) as a tool for multidisciplinary education and research. The importance of CI is emphasized in understanding complex systems and designing proactive adaptive systems in uncertain, unknown, and dynamic environments. Main paradigms of CI are presented. Several novel applications of hybrid CI techniques proposed earlier by the author in engineering, manufacturing, biomedical and health care systems are discussed.
