Background This book contains a selection of papers presented at the seventh EUROMICRO Symposium held on September 8 i0, 1981 in Paris. Two-thirds of the approximately I00 authors were affiliated with academic institutions while the remainder were from industry. Research and practice from nearly every European country and the U. S. is represented in these papers. All papers are published in excellent English.
